Home Survey Standard

Home surveys can be confusing. 40% of British adults who bought a property within the last ten years who didn’t get a survey didn’t think they needed one. 21% of those who did get a survey don’t remember what type it was. We want to clear up the confusion and make the process as easy to understand as possible.

Some of the dissatisfaction around surveys is because the buyer doesn’t understand what they’re getting. We need your feedback to help buyers know exactly why home surveys are so important and to make the entire process clearer and easier.

The RICS home survey consultation is open now. Complete our quick questionnaire and help us make the process of buying a home easier.

Commenting effectively:

When commenting on this RICS consultation draft, please make sure you:

Comment only on the individual section to which your comment refers, rather than inserting all comments into one section. As responses are collated through an automated system, this will help us to present all comments to the working group in chronological order avoid leaving comments that do not reflect a point of view (e.g. inserting 'okay' across a number of sections); and keep comments as brief and to the point as possible.
